Biography

Hailed by French critics as "une voix ronde et agile, un visage mobile et expressif, une plastique enviable et un aplomb scénique irréprochable"(for her Susanna's interpretation in Le nozze di Figaro), Carolina was born in Taranto. She graduated in piano at "G. Paisiello" Music Institute and in singing at Conservatory "G.B.  Martini" in Bologna with top honors.  Her career was launched in Martina Franca when she won a scholarship at Belcanto's Academy "Rodolfo Celletti" led by Alberto Triola. She has distinguished herself and in July 2014 she opened the 40th Festival della Valle d’Itria with La donna serpente by Alfredo Casella in Arturo Cirillo's production at Palazzo Ducale under the baton of Fabio Luisi. Besides next year she debuted the Fiorina's main role in Don Checco by Nicola De Giosa to critical acclaim who described her as: "La giovane rivelazione della serata è stata soprattutto Carolina Lippo, deliziosa Fiorina cui sono dedicati tra i momenti più belli del lavoro di De Giosa, voce educatissima e di timbro squisito, che riascolteremo sicuramente nel proseguimento di una carriera importante" Carolina emerged into international scenes with The Fairy Queen by Purcell in Mariame Clément's new production at Theater an der Wien under the baton of Christophe Rousset.  

Out of 300 applicants, she was chosen to work in Junges Ensemble 2016/2017 of  Theater an der Wien. Among her future plans are La scuola de' gelosi by Antonio Salieri in Jean Renshaw's new production under the baton of Stefan Gottfried; Arianna in Nasso by Porpora in Sergej Morozov production conduct by Markellos Chryssicos; Don Pasquale in Marcos Darbyshire production under the baton of Tscho Theissing; cover in Saul by G. F. Händel in Claus Guth production conduct by Laurence Cummings; Der Besuch der alten Dame by Gottfried von Einem in Keith Warner's production under the baton of Michael Boder; Così fan tutte in Christophe Gayral production under the baton of Stefan Vladar; Oreste by G. F. Händel in Kay Link's new production conduct by Rubén Dubrovsky in Händel-Festspiele in Halle.  2016/2017 season just has seen Carolina in Nina, o sia la pazza per amore by G. Paisiello at Teatro dell'Opera Giocosa in Savona conduct by Alvise Casellati and direct by Stefania Panighini; Oreste by G. F. Händel in Kay Link's new production conduct by Rubén Dubrovsky;in September she performed as Marchesa Violante Onesti in La finta giardiniera (Lothar Zagrosek's version) by W. A. Mozart for 30th Niedersächsische Musiktage in Hannover under the baton of Giuliana Retali and the direction of Bettina Geyer; a very successful Lorenzo Regazzo's new production of Le nozze di Figaro by W. A. Mozart for the XXV Settimane Musicali at Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza under the conduction of Giovanni Battista Rigon: "una Susanna eccellente, priva di connotazioni soubrettistiche, espressiva, ineccepibile nell' emissione." (L'Opera International Magazine).  

Carolina has recently sung in Vittorio Sgarbi's production of  Die lustige Witwe by F. Lehàr at Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi conduct by Antonio Pirolli; in The Telephone by Gian Carlo Menotti at Teatro Orfeo in Taranto directed by Fabio Ceresa under the baton of Giuseppe Finzi for the XXIII symphonic season of Orchestra ICO della Magna Grecia; in  La scala di seta by G. Rossini at Teatro Comunale of Sassari in a production of Gran Teatro La Fenice directed by Bepi Morassi and conducted by Francesco Pasqualetti; in La Semiramide in villa by Giovanni Paisiello (first complete performance in modern times) for the 12thGiovanni Paisiello Festival conducted by Giovanni Di Stefano and directed by Stefania Panighini; in a special Belcanto Concert for Alberto Zedda in Martina Franca under the baton of Fabio Luisi; a very successful Teatro La Fenice's new production of Il Campiello by E. Wolf-Ferrari at Teatro Sociale in Rovigo and at Teatro Malibran in Venice: "Mir gefiel am besten der technisch ausgezeichnet geführte Sopran von Carolina Lippo, die die Gnese mit sehr schönen Pianotönen und vielfältiger Klangfarbe gestaltete" (Der Opernfreund); in L’ambizione delusa by Leonardo Leo (first performance in modern times) for the 39th  Festival della Valle d'Itria; in Francesco Esposito's new production of Don Giovanni at Teatro della Fortuna in Fano under the baton of Roberto Parmeggiani.
