Biography

Eine außergewöhnlich vielseitige Stimme und großartige schauspielerische Fähigkeiten haben Cristina Baggio ermöglicht, ein breitgefächertes und abwechslungsreiches Repertoire zu singen, welches seinen Höhepunkt in dramatischen Rollen zeigt.

Ein wichtiges Debüt war die Rolle der Salome am Teatro Comunale in Bozen, in Piacenza und Modena, unter der Regie von Manfred Schweigkofler und dem Dirigat von Niksa Bareza (beste Produktion 2012 für die deutsche Zeitschrift Opernwelt). 

Sie wiederholte die Rolle im August 2014 am Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro in einer Neuinszenierung von Andrè Heller Lopez.

2015 gibt sie als Salome an den Wupperthalern Bühnen unter der Regie von Michiel Dijkema ihr lange erwartetes Debüt in Deutschland, einem Land das sie sehr liebt. 

Sie hatte bemerkenswerten Erfolg als Renata in Prokofievs L’Ange de Feu (Live-Übertragung auf Arte) erzielt und wurde als „Best Female Performer 2010“ beim Armel Opernwettbewerb und Festival ausgezeichnet. Darüber hinaus hat sie Preise bei zahlreichen internationalen Wettbewerben (AsLiCo, Toti Dal Monte, Iris Adami Corradetti, Martinelli-Pertile) bekommen.

Weitere Erfolge 2014/15: Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni am Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venedig unter der Regie von Damiano Michieletto, ihr Debüt als Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito am Teatro Manoel in Malta und ihr Debüt als Elisabetta in Donizettis Maria Stuarda in einer Inszenierung von Gianfranco De Bosio. 

Cristina Baggio gab ihr Operndebüt mit As.li.co als Elettra in Mozarts Idomeneo. Seitdem sang sie in Italien (u.a. am Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Gran Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Opera di Roma, Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro Filarmonico di Verona) und im Ausland (USA, arabischen Emiraten, Ungarn, Slowakei, Österreich, Malta, Spanien, Belgien, Sudamerika, Russland) mit Regisseuren wie P. L. Pizzi, D. Abbado, M. Martone, S. Purcărete, J. L. Martinoty e T. Reinhard und Dirigenten wie  G. Gelmetti, O. Dantone, Y. Abel, J. Tate, G. Noseda, P. Morandi, G. Andretta, A. Marcon, G. Tourniaire, N. Bareza.

Ihr Repertoire reicht von Barock bis zu zeitgenössischer Musik: Teodosio in Vivaldis L'Atenaide (Weltpremiere in moderner Zeit unter dem Dirigat von Andrea Marcon), Cassiope in Vilvaldis Andromeda Liberata, Bellezza in Händels Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno, Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice, Elettra in Idomeneo, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito, Arminda in La finta giardiniera, Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda, Manon Lescaut, Fedora, Magda in Menottis The Consul, Nyssia in Zemlinskys Der König Kandaules, Renata in Prokofievs The Fiery Angel und diverse zeitgenössischen Opern von Furlani. 

Sie hat das Studium an der "Università di Psicopedagogia" und das Diplom in Gesang und Kammermusik, beide mit Auszeichnung abgeschlossen. Außerdem besuchte sie das Mozarteum in Salzburg, das Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia und perfektionierte sich weiter mit Raina Kabaivanska.
